Posted on June 17, 2022August 4, 2022 by Max T

A pitching matchup between two of the best young pitchers in the game, saw the Mariners take a 5-0 victory over the Twins.

The winning pitcher of this Tuesday matchup, Logan Gilbert, pitched 6 innings of 4 hit, 6 strikeout baseball. He gathered 9 swings and misses, entirely due to his fastball/slider combo. Gilbert’s ERA has now dropped 2.22. The Seattle bullpen, Erik Swanson, Diego Castillo, and Matthew Festa all combined to throw 3 innings of no hit, no run baseball.

Making his first start in almost a month, Joe Ryan allowed 5 hits and 4 runs across his 4.2 innings of work. Even though the righty struggled his ERA on the season is still 2.81. Trevor Megill threw 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball. His curveball had a 67% whiff rate on Tuesday, and has a .158 BAA on the season. Jovani Moran pitched 2 innings while allowing 1 run to score.

Carlos Correa and Gilberto Celestino were the only two Twins with hits, both of them finished the game with two hits. Byron Buxton also walked twice.

The Mariners offense had 4 extra base hits as a unit on Tuesday. Julio Rodriguez and Sam Haggerty both hit doubles, Ty France and Eugenio Suarez both had homers for the M’s.
