A costly error from third baseman Ezequiel Duran led to an Astros rally in the 8th, the momentum change virtually ended the game right then.
Jose Urquidy had a solid bounce back outing going 6 innings allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 4. Urquidy collected 15 swings and misses, 9 of which came on his slider. Urquidy’s slider has 16 inches of horizontal break, 5 inches more than a league average slider. The Houston bullpen was once again fantastic. Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero, and Ryan Pressly all threw scoreless appearances. Montero has been a decent surprise for the Houston bullpen, his 4-seamer has a run value of -4 and a .133 BAA. Montero’s season ERA is down to 2.10.
Kyle Tucker hit a go-ahead two run homer 8th. Yordan Alvarez had the other RBI, and Michael Brantley finished the game 2-3 with a double.
Dane Dunning had a great start going 6 innings allowing zero runs and only 2 hits. Dunning struck out 4 while also walking 4. Matt Bush, Dennis Santana, and Garrett Richards all threw scoreless appearances for the rangers. The game got out of hand when the Rangers called for John King out of the bullpen. King only got 1 out while allowing 3 hits and 4 runs.
Nathaniel Lowe had 3 hard hit balls and finished the game going 3-4 with a HR and 2 RBI’s. Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia, and Kole Calhoun each had 2 hard hit balls and they all finished the game going 1-4.
