The Brewers have now lost 9 of their last 10 and are only 5 games over .500.
Chris Bassitt shut the Brewers down, he struck out 7 over 8 innings while only giving up 3 hits. He collected 16 swings and misses using his mix of sinkers, curveballs, 4-seamers, and cutters. The Mets also got a solid inning of relief from Drew Smith in which he struck out one hitter in his single inning of work. His 3000 RPM slider has a .164 xBAA and a -3 run value.
It was quite the opposite for Brewers starter Adrian Houser who went 4.2 innings giving up 8 hits and 4 earned runs. The Brewers bullpen was shutdown once they gave the ball to Brent Suter who pitched 1.1 inning of hitless baseball. Trevor Kelley also pitched 2 innings of hitless ball for the Brewers.
The Brewers offense didn’t give any help to their struggling starter either as they had a .193 xBA and only had 3 hits, all of them singles. Willy Adames had 3 hard hit balls even though he finished the game 0-4.
Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo lead the offense for the Mets. Nimmo was 2-4 with a double, and Alonso was 2-3 with 2 RBI’s and a BB. Alonso’s OPS is now up to .928 on the season.
