Edward Olivares 6/24/22 Performance Breakdown

Posted on July 26, 2022August 4, 2022 by Max T

Royals outfielder Edward Olivares had his first career multi home run game. He recorded 2 of the top 5 farthest hit balls of the day.

Olivares started off his first at-bat of the game by taking a curveball at the bottom of the zone for a called strike, then he turned on a 88.5 mph 4-seamer at the top of the zone from Cole Irvin, and launched it 430 feet into left field. It was also his first homer of the season.

In Olivares second at-bat, he took a changeup for a strike and then fouled off the same exact pitch. Then in a 1-1 count, Cole Irvin sailed a fastball up and away. Olivares then got another changeup in the same exact spot as the other two, he once again pulled the pitch over the wall in left field, good for his second homer of the day.

Edward Olivares did damage against A’s lefty Cole Irvin, which is why he was in the lineup. Olivares is slugging .710 with a 1.092 OPS against lefties so far this season.
