Dylan Bundy put together his best start of the season against the Diamondbacks. Bundy went 8 innings allowing only 4 hits and an earned run, while striking out 7 and generating 11 swings and misses.
The former 4th overall pick by the Orioles pitched a clean first, second, and third innings. Bundy allowed 2 singles in the fourth inning but nothing came of it, however something did come of a triple that he allowed in the fifth. Buddy Kennedy tripled to leadoff the inning, Carson Kelly hit a sac fly to center scoring the only run of the game for the Dbacks. Bundy then pitched a clean sixth, he did allow David Peralta to double in the seventh but got a strikeout and flyout to strand Peralta in scoring position. Bundy ended his outing by pitching a clean eighth inning.
Bundy doesn’t have one thing that stands out about his game, you could say that he doesn’t lose hitters, which is true, he is in the top 9% of the league in walk rate. He also gets hitters to chase fairly frequently, Bundy has a chase percentage of 34.3%, league average is 28.3%. Bundy has lost velocity since entering the league in 2016, when he averaged 94.4 miles per hour on his fastball, he is now down to 89.4 miles per hour in 2022.
