Triston McKenzie 6/16/22 Start Breakdown

Posted on June 26, 2022August 4, 2022 by Max T

The 24 year old righty picked up his 4th win of the season shutting down the Rockies. McKenzie allowed 7 hits and a walk across his 6 innings of work. He only surrendered 1 earned run, while striking out 6 and collecting 16 swings and misses. McKenzie worked out of a nightmare first inning, where he allowed a single and a double to the first to hitters of the game. With 2 runners in scoring position and no outs, McKenzie induced a groundout back to himself and 2 strikeouts. Triston also allowed a runner to reach scoring position in the second but it was with 2 outs and he induced a lineout to center to end the inning. After the first two innings it was smooth sailing for McKenzie, he gave up his only run in the bottom of the 5th inning. McKenzie’s 4-seamer was responsible for 11 of the 16 total whiffs. His 4-seamer has a .199 BAA and a -6 run value. After facing some traffic at the beginning of the game, McKenzie was able to settle in and shut down the Rockies offense. McKenzie’s ERA is now down to 2.96.
